The ILBCC wanted to shine a light on the glaring lack of contracts being awarded to minority firms by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).

The web portion of the campaign encouraged Illinois Black Chamber of Commerce members and other Illinoisians to send a prewritten letter to the Illinois Secretary of Transportation.

IDOT got wind of the campaign and met with members from ILBCC to discuss increasing minority contractor involvement. This is a rare instance of a campaign getting results without even launching. Here’s what I could find on the state of Illinois Black contractors today.
